The Kir was named after the Chanoine Kir, Mayor of Dijon (Burgundy, France) from 1945 to 1967, who used to serve a glass of « blanc-cassis » (white wine with blackcurrant liqueur) to his guests. The Kir Royal is the Champagne version of it. With either still or sparkling wine, all kinds of variations are possible with any fruit liqueur.
Ingredients
| Merlet Crème de Cassis de Saintonge, blackcurrant liqueur | 20 ml - 1 oz |
| Champagne | 80 ml - 4 oz |
Method
Pour the fruit liqueur into a flute glass and top with Champagne or sparkling white wine.
