Published in 1895 by George Kappeler in his book "Modern American Drinks", this cocktail is an excellent example of the fashion for vermouth-centric cocktails, in full swing at the time. It obviously owes its name to the great American school, where the students used to quench their thirst with this cocktail.
Ingredients
| Merlet Brothers Blend Cognac | 25 ml - 1 oz |
| Red Vermouth** | 25 ml - 1 oz |
| Orange bitters | 3 drops |
| * works with Merlet VSOP Cognac | |
| **Martini Rosso is suggested |
Method
Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice cubes. Stir with a bar spoon and strain in a small cocktail glass. Add orange peel in the glass for garnish.
