Published in 1895 by George Kappeler in his book "Modern American Drinks", this cocktail is an excellent example of the fashion for vermouth-centric cocktails, in full swing at the time. It obviously owes its name to the great American school, where the students used to quench their thirst with this cocktail.

Ingredients

Merlet Brothers Blend Cognac25 ml - 1 oz
Red Vermouth**25 ml - 1 oz
Orange bitters 3 drops
* works with Merlet VSOP Cognac
**Martini Rosso is suggested

Method

Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice cubes. Stir with a bar spoon and strain in a small cocktail glass. Add orange peel in the glass for garnish.
